Before you get ready to shove those kids of yours out of the nest, here are what I consider to be (based on my experience as a person, a Mom, and a Grandma) the most important things you (or someone) should teach them about personal finance. Here, told as I would tell it to my Grandkids, are my top 5 lessons. How to manage life activities.

Last year, to make a little extra cash, I started boarding dogs through Rover, and I am about to start a very very part time job using my RN license for a home care company. Shortly after that, my brand new husband and I took a financial course (by the famous D.R., for anyone curious ? ) Fancy haircuts, color, etc.

Career advancement is the goal, of course, but your choice of concentration is what will shape the path that leads there. Business degrees are available in a wide variety of fields, ranging from conventional focuses like finance and marketing, to the more unique and specialized such as healthcare, or cutting edge areas like data analytics.

I have found that the course of current events has made me hyperconscious of the importance of developing financial stability early in life. It’s Not Just Important for Children Currently, I’m getting a crash course in just how vital budgeting, preparing and planning for the future is to the stability of your financial future.

When I’d do things like take out student loans even though I had a full-tuition scholarship and a sweet part-time job in the university cafeteria. Often, as I review my finances, I ask myself this question: “What will my future self say about this?” Or put yet another trip to Las Vegas on the credit card.

Along our part-time business my husband is a senior web designer for Ramsey Solutions aka Dave Ramsey. We live a pretty busy lives and when given free weekends at home we love spending time at home on our little farm. We followed FPU which was a 9 week course. Keeps us aligned together with our finances.

Of course there is. It is essentially a part time job, and many would argue that one can make more flipping burgers at Wendy’s.
