Before kids, I spent my free-time volunteering at a stray rescue shelter for dogs. While we were still renting an apartment, I researched areas with lower property taxes, scouted out my ideal neighborhoods, and waited for a smaller, less expensive house to come on the market. However a few years ago, we found ourselves with too much debt and not enough cash. Within a year after settlement, we found ourselves with a lot of debt, not enough cash flow, and very little set aside for emergencies. As much as I wanted to be a property owner, the extra debt was beginning to suffocate us.

I came up with strategies to help us pay for yearly bills, large expenses, and we were able to pay off debts. You can find blank calendar pages by Googling, “free calendar template” or I’ve found blank monthly calendars at the Dollar Tree. During that time, I started to budget for everything.
