Our emergency fund has saved us countless times and it will save us once again with the truck. And while I don’t like parting with our money, I am grateful that this repair won’t send us into financial distress. We also didn’t feel comfortable with Dave’s suggestion of a $1000 starter emergency fund, which is his step #1. Our 2019 Financial Goal. Happy New Year’s 2019: In January 2019, we were down to one final non-mortgage loan, so we created just one financial goal for the year—-to pay off that last non-mortgage debt by December. We can now move on to other financial goals. 1st Update in June 2014. 2018 Update.

Tell us about you and your family. I wasn’t comfortable keeping only $1,000 in an emergency fund with two little ones and just one income, so we didn’t follow that part of his plan. When I first started commuting, a family from our church actually loaned us their car for two months to ease our commute time!

In September 2019, my husband and I accomplished our biggest financial goal in our almost 20 years of marriage. I don’t make a lot of income on this blog, and it has definitely decreased recently as I’ve reduced my hours spent blogging. Also, we both have side hustles. We just ate an elephant!
