In previous years, I would create a long list of financial goals, only to have little accomplished by the end of the December. I almost stopped writing goals down altogether. In 2018, we decided to focus on just 2 main financial goals and before I share my 2019 goals I thought I would give you a recap on 2018.

In fact, it was one of my 2020 financial goals. Our Family Vital Info Binder contains all of our important-to-us info in one place and since I am the family office manager, my husband can use the binder to find anything he needs if I’m unavailable. It took about two hours to gather everything needed for the binder.

It’s Frugal Friday: A recap of how we frugal-ed our way through the week so that we have more money to put towards our financial goals. How We Saved this Week: All of the meat that I used this week for my menu was from the markdown section of the grocery store. So we are now in the market for new health insurance.

Did you make 2018 financial goals ? My husband and I discussed some ideas over our holiday break and we decided on 2 solid must-achieve financial goals for the year. If we complete them early, we’ll move on to 2 additional goals that are on our radar. This will take us most of the year.

Back in October 2003, I left a corporate career as a department store buyer with a nice reliable paycheck and benefits– including health insurance –to join my husband in the land of self-employment. I STILL use our spreadsheet today. I don’t want him to feel that way.

What I have found to work is that if I can access my emergency fund within 24-48 hours, it is ideal both in terms of easy accessibility and liquidity as well as inconvenient enough that I don’t get tempted to dip into it for something it really shouldn’t be used for.

In September 2019, my husband and I accomplished our biggest financial goal in our almost 20 years of marriage. This side hustle income was mainly used for the fun stuff, such as camping, home renovations & repairs, and needs for our kids. Health Sharing Ministry. In 2020, we still use and are thankful for Medi-share.
