Those of us who had stocks , bonds, and mutual funds saw our net worth rise, but many (perhaps as many as 50% of us, according to CNN Money article M illions see no benefit from soaring stock prices ) missed out. I believe the purchase was at a slightly reduced price. Seek employment in a company that issues stock awards.

While you may not want to delay the first purchase of your home, you have to realize that a low credit score, even if the bank does approve you, will not allow you to get the best interest rate. Don’t just jump in because interest rates are low or home prices are low. Furthermore, not everyone wants or knows how to maintain a property.

We found a really cute set for a great sale price at Big Lots…of all places–I had no idea they sold furniture. I also opened another Capital One 360 account for our emergency fund that was also sitting in a zero-interest savings account. In total, we have made $250 in interest since April. Ask and ye shall receive!

Both are now old enough to open a bank savings account. I would go into the bank with my stubby little hands clutching my months worth of allowance (total of $1), deposit it and see the results right off printed in my book. Most of the time, the best we can expect from bank savings accounts has been from 2% to 5% before inflation.
