She was awarded several and since they came directly to her in the form of checks, she was able to deposit them and use them however she needed (books, gas, meals, etc…). People ask us all the time how she was able to accomplish that, and the answer is easy.

Here are some of the things we did to curb our spending: Gas up before entering the park. Gas was at least 40 cents a gallon higher in the park than outside the boundaries. If you drive, you will most likely have to buy some gas in the park, but it is a safe bet that getting it elsewhere will be cheaper!
