After renting an office for 12 years, we had nothing to show for it and the space was starting to feel a bit cramped. On top of our normal day to day expenses, the new property taxes were due, we had more ownership expenses than we realized, and we had a family to feed. Our business is again thriving.

As our family and household income grew, my husband and I made it a goal to put more money aside for emergencies, retirement, college, home improvements, etc. We rented at first, but the rental situation in our new town was poor. Nine years later, the rent for similar homes in our neighborhood is double the cost of our mortgage!

Our small business was going well, so we said so long to renting office space and purchased a commercial property in the summer of 2012. Also to top it off, I had a huge property tax due that month for our office building that was going to be difficult to pay for in light of the circumstances. Yep, life was good.
