January 2021 was a month of extremes in my family’s finances. I started donating plasma in January!!! We had very little saved for a new-to-us car and we would have had to take out a loan to cover most of it, and that made me uneasy about purchasing the car. I put down half the money and financed the other half.

I have used the extra money to pay off debt, fund family trips, or build up our Christmas savings. I save the points up to redeem a larger amount. They are a nice perk if you are able to pay off your balance every month, otherwise, you’re paying finance charges that most likely exceed the cashback that is earned.
